Course Description: In this class, the students will learn 2,200 kanji and their meanings in 12 months. It teaches students a system to remember kanji without writing numerous times. Your student's kanji level will be much beyond college students' after successfully completing this class. This class will benefit tremendously to those who are planning to further his/her Japanese education. It's really not for the students who are not planning to take Japanese classes in college or younger students due to requiring the abstract thinking. The students will be required to memorize 14 kanji per day for 9 weeks in summer (June and July) and 10 kanji per day for the school year (excludes vacation week). The students need to possess determination, discipline, and desire to accomplish this big task. When we meet each week, the students will take the test in class for checking their memorization and accountability and discuss difficulties and help each other when the time allows. Prior Japanese class is not required for this class.

*The students who are interested in Chinese may benefit from this class with understanding that 20-30% of the characters do not share the same meanings. Or some modern Chinese characters are simplified and may look slightly different. (Japanese are still using their traditional characters.)
