Templates and Games for the Collaborate Whiteboard

All the wbd sets in this section play when loaded into a Collaborate online classroom. Since the classroom doesn't actually install on your computer, double-clicking theses files on your hard drive will not launch them. You have to log in to the classroom and load the wbd slides there.

Battleship wbd Game

This wbd version of the Battleship game was created by a student, Timothy Moore. It is a two players game where the scoreboard tracks what the players guessed by dragging and dropping small graphics of explosions and splashes indicating hits and misses as they try to find the other player's battleship.

This game is excellent to use for a mic and chat time or for younger math students that are mastering the basics of the column and row structure of Cartesian coordinate system.

Build a Brain

This wbd set is perfect for a review game for any topic area. The game can hold up to 4 topic columns and 5 rows of questions.

Teachers create the questions and use the whiteboard selector tool to group them to the brain pieces on the question slides. The question/brain piece combination is then places so only the brain piece graphic shows. The question is hidden off screen but can be pulled into view by grabbing the brain piece with the selector tool and drag and drop in where students can see the question.

During game time, students can be divided up in to teams. List the team players on the score page. The group directed chat can be used so they can communicate with their team but the other team cannot see. Remember that directed chat isn't yet supported on mobile devices, so warn your students to log in on a laptop or desktop that day.

The teams select their question from the question matrix (shown to the right). You can label the columns and slides with the questions by category if you want to. Use the filled in rectangle tool to cover any question here that is selected and then go to the slide with that question to pull the question out in to view.

Mastermind

This wbd Mastermind game is a fun logical reasoning game. One player tries to figure out the color sequence created by another player. It is a 4 peg sequence of colors. The player that creates the code will tell the guessing player how many colors are correct and how many are in the correct location for each guess. The guessed sequences can be tracked by dragging and dropping the pegs to the circles.
